At present, the total production capacity of OPP film in Europe is about 1.045 million tons per year, of which Western Europe’s production capacity is 958,000 tons, accounting for 91.7% of total European production capacity; while Eastern Europe was 8.7 million tons, accounting 8.3% of total European production capacity.
According to statistics of PCI Films Company, world production capacity of OPP film in 2002 was more than 3.8 million tons. The growing demand of OPP film in packaging industry made the world demand rose to 3.17 million tons. Among which Western Europe’s demand is about 823,000 tons, accounting for 26% of total global demand; and in Eastern Europe, the demand is about 8.5 million tons.
Stretch blow molding is a two-stage process similar to injection blow molding. Firstly, a test-tube like preform is made using plastic injection moulding or a similar process. The neck of the preforms is fully finished but the diameter and length of the body portion are much smaller than the final product. The preform then undergos a stretch-and-blow process.
A small piece of thermoplastic material is preformed to a test-tube shape and installed near the tip of the blow stem. The setup is placed in the closed chamber of a divided mold.
Compressed air is injected into the preform via the blow stem while the blow stem is pushing forward to stretch the preform further into the mold.
The blowing and stretching process continues. The blow stem stops near the far end of the mold.
Compressed air continues to blow in until the preform reaches the wall of the mold.
The plastic piece is removed from the mold after it cools and hardens.
The single most important product made by stretch blow molding is the 2-liter PET bottle for carbonated soft drinks introduced in 1978 and updated to one-piece bottle in early nineties. The PET bottles are virtually unbreakable, lightweight, transparent. They and have various barrier properties. The traditional glass containers cannot compete with PET bottles and are almost extinct from the field of carbonated soft drinks.

Only few people know how to identify whether the plastic bags are toxic, and here are some tips for you to choose a safety plastic bag.
Firstly, non-toxic plastic bag is usually white, transparent or slightly transparent, and uniform in texture; while the toxic plastic bag is always colorful, with poor transparency.
Secondly, shook the plastic bags vigorously, if the sound is clear, it is more likely the non-toxic plastic bag; while it sounds small and stuffy, these bags are largely toxic.
Thirdly, the surface of non-toxic bag is very smooth, and the toxic one is always sticky, hair acerbity and waxy feeling.
If this method is not, then there is a way-by checking the burning flame. The non-toxic bag, like most OPP film, is highly combustible with yellow flame on the top; and the toxic plastic bag is difficult to burn.

OPP film has many disadvantages: such as it is easy to accumulate static electricity and it has no heat sealing.
When it operate at a high speed production line, OPP film is easier to generate static electricity, so an electrostatic removing device is needed.
In order to get the heat-sealable OPP film, we’d better to coat with the resin solutions like PVD latex, EVA latex etc. and it could also use the method of extrusion coating and co-extruded composite to produce the heat-sealable OPP film.
Of course, different production methods will lead to different results of OPP films.
To get a better performance of films, the multilayer composite method is usually adopted.
Most of today’s OPP film is transparent, and added a small amount of copolymer as auxiliary. Orientation is a characteristic that makes the sealing of the film better. It can prevent from the solvent, water vapor and other types of vapors. The OPP film gives excellent protective properties. Orientation also brings other excellent characteristics to OPP film. Compared with non-stretched film, it brings a better transparency and low temperature flexibility.
Pearl OPP film is using polypropylene resin as raw material, mixed with calcium carbonate – CaCO3 and pearlescent pigments and bidirectional stretching later. The characteristics of gas barrier properties and water resistance are more excellent than other species of BOPP film. 35μm-thicked double-sided heat-sealable BOPP pearlized film can be directly used for ice cream, ice cream and other cold drinks’ packaging.
MAT-OPP is using polypropylene resin as raw material, adding powder matting and so on, bidirectional stretching after mixing. Heat-sealing effect is poorer.
